We have a strong belief in freedom and the founding principles of the United States of America.
Democracy is not freedom per se. Lack of democracy does not necessarily mean lack of freedom. In fact, too strong a democracy may be bad for your personal freedoms.
An excellent primer is Fareed Zakaria’s The Future of Freedom and Newt Gingrich’s Real Change.
You will notice most posts are by liberal. This is the term in the classical sense.
